Taster Session & Parties

This course is ideal for people who have no climbing experience, designed to be a fun session for the absolute beginner.

What this course provides: Under the supervision of an experienced instructor, this session will take part in the top rope and bouldering areas of the barn. This is a fun session where you will get the chance to just have a go at your own pace. This session comes with as much encouragement as you need and can be as challenging as you want to make it!

Please note: The session is not designed for teaching the skills required to climb unsupervised within the barn, to acquire these skills please refer to the beginners course.

CONTENT

Duration: 1 people: 45 mins, 2 people: 1 hour   3+ people: 1.5 hours,   

Price: £20 per person

Min number participating: 1 person

Max number participating: 9 people

Experience Required: No experience required

Kit Hire: Included

Minimum age: 4 years+ (groups with ages under 7 may require help from a parent or guardian to get most from the session.

Beginners Course

This course is designed for people who are new to the sport and want to learn the skills required to safely use the top rope and Bouldering areas of the wall.

 What this course provides: This course provides high quality instruction to teach the necessary skills needed to use the top rope and bouldering areas of the wall. All skills learnt comply with the national standards. The aim of the course is for you to become independent in the use of the boulder and more specifically the top rope wall, but the outcome of this is dependant upon your progress. A successful outcome would enable the participant to register as a top rope climber.

CONTENT

Warming up

Knowing the equipment

How to put a harness on correctly

How to tie into your harness

How to belay

How to hold a falling climbing and how to lower off a climber

Basic climbing and movement technique

An understanding of route grading in both the top rope and bouldering area

Managing the risks involved and understanding the conditions of use within the climbing wall

Duration: Two separate sessions over the space of two weeks. Each session is for 1 ½ hours.

Price: £60 per person (minimum price £120). This price includes the cost of both sessions, equipment hire, instructors fees and admission.
Please note: This price includes an all day admission into the barn for both sessions. You will be able to continue using the boulder and top rope after your course, but the independent use of the top rope depends upon a successful completion of the course which includes registering.

Minimum number of participants:  2 participants (£120) - 2+ participants £60 per participant.

Maximum number of participants: 4 people.

Minimum age: 14yrs.

Experience required: For this course it would be beneficial to have had some climbing experience, e.g. Taster session, unless you feel confident enough to just get stuck in!

Kit hire: All kit included in price.

Extra information: For young people between ages 14-17 yrs attending this course, we will need parents/guardians to come in and sign a Parental Consent Form and an unsupervised under 18 form. The Parental Consent Form allows the young person to participate in the course if the parents/guardians are not there. The unsupervised under 18 form will ultimately allow them to use the bouldering and top rope areas unsupervised, providing they complete the course successfully.

Adult & Youth Coaching

This climbing course is for Adults and Youth who require time with an experienced instructor, who can advise, teach and give personal coaching on any aspect of climbing you require. This course is both for beginners and experienced climbers alike and is completely tailored to your needs.

What this course provides: Depending upon your own requirements, your instructor can coach you in any number of areas. Any aspect of bouldering, top roping or lead climbing can be covered, whether it is advice on equipment, climbing technique and movement or basic/advanced rope work. For example your instructor can help you develop a personal training program or simply teach you how to use the top rope area safely.

CONTENT

Duration: A maximum of 5 hours per day, a minimum of an hour.

Price:  £40 per hour plus admission fee.

Minimum number of participants:  1 person.

Maximum number of participants:  2 people.

Minimum age: 7 years for coaching on top rope or boulder, a minimum of 12 years for lead climbing.

Experience required: None.

Kit hire: Not Included.

Extra information: Having paid an admission fee to come into the barn you are able to climb for as long as you want, once your coaching session is over. Please be advised; unsupervised use of the bouldering area, top rope area and lead wall are dependent upon you instructor finding you competent to do so. For young people between ages 14-17 years attending this course, we will need parents/guardians to come in and sign a parental consent form and an unsupervised under 18 form. The Parental Consent Form allows the young person to participate in the course if the parents/guardians are not there. The unsupervised under 18 form give parental permission for them to use the bouldering area, top rope area and lead wall areas unsupervised, providing their instructor finds them competent to do so.
